Making Legal Rising a Reality at the ACC Europe 2019 Annual Conference

Tim Wilson |

I, for one, am thrilled that Mitratech is sponsoring the ACC Europe 2019 Annual Conference. Not least because in addition to our sponsoring, exhibiting and running live demos across the two-day conference, I will be facilitating an outstanding panel of experienced legal experts.

That panel will consist of Tish Clyde, the Vice President Global Employment Counsel at Nokia, Mo Zain Ajaz, the Chief Operations Officer for Legal and General Counsel at National Grid and Chris Fowler, the General Counsel BT Technology and Transformation at British Telecom. The opportunity to hear the views, current challenges and top tips from this panel is something I’m extremely excited about.

Our session will be taking place on Day One straight after the opening plenary. It’s titled The rise of (wearing the glasses of) the Chief Legal Operations Officer, and covers topics such as: How a recent wave of innovation in technology and the availability of powerful tools for the legal team are helping the department to deliver better outcomes for their business, and how new technology is allowing growing legal teams to compete on a level playing field with more sophisticated players. Supporting this ‘Legal Rising’ movement is something that is a number one focus for Mitratech.

The growing importance of the CLO

Legal Rising is a phrase we’ve used to describe the expanding leadership role being taken by legal departments around the world, as they look to embrace and accelerate change, enabling them to become innovators within their organisations. Within the 2019 ACC Chief Legal Officers Survey feedback from 1,639 CLOs (from 55 countries), it indicates the ‘Age of the Chief Legal Officer’ is advancing. CLOs therefore now occupy positions of power and influence within their organisations.

This is being driven by the pace of change in regulation, globalisation, and technology. At Mitratech we aim to partner with legal departments to assist with taking the bold steps forward in adopting technologies, to resist the urge to avoid change, ensure that it’s easy to show an ROI and implement their solution platforms.

If you’d like to find out more about the Legal Rising movement, and hear about how legal technology can assist you to address evolving legal management needs, spend control, and ensure process efficiency and best practices, visit us at stand 18 or arrange a personal consultation. We look forward to seeing you there.
