Last week, I had the privilege of attending LegalTech in New York City. This year’s show was particularly exciting as Mitratech unveiled Lawtrac 4.0, the most up-to-date matter management and e-Billing solution on the market. The overwhelmingly positive response to Lawtrac 4.0 from clients, prospects, and analysts has been very gratifying.
There were plenty of other reasons to be excited about this year’s show. First was the opportunity to meet clients and members of the legal community face-to-face, both at the Mitratech booth and at our wine and cheese reception on the first night of the show. Second, the hundreds of vendors exhibiting their products provided a great overview of the legal technology solutions landscape. Finally, there were so many interesting and useful presentations that it was often difficult to decide which of several concurrent sessions to attend.
Of the sessions I attended, one of the highlights was a great session on harnessing a legal department’s internal knowledge. Presenters at that session discussed how their legal departments use intranet portals to push, pull, and search for internal knowledge. The most unique and thought provoking session was the Legal Disruption Lightening Round where ten start-up legal technology companies presented their respective products. Some of the most interesting products provided varied ways for consumers of legal services and attorneys to find each other. Another compelling product provided a way for individuals to make their own contracts via a mobile phone application. These products raised an interesting question: Will the technology disruptors for legal services be driven by consumer facing products much as the music industry was disrupted by new music purchasing and listening services?
Between the great sessions and discussions in our booth, the best part of LegalTech was the interaction with our user base. In Product Management, we are constantly striving to make our products more useful, cost-effective, and easier for our clients. By hearing what the legal industry is struggling with, I am able to make sure we are always making products to fit these needs. That is why Lawtrac 4.0 includes a brand-new sleek and easy-to-use interface.
If you were not able to stop by our LegalTech booth, we’d love to give you a 1:1 demo of the product. You can request one here.
